A NATION RICH IN NATURAL ASSETS WITH THE WORLD’S SECOND YOUNGEST POPULATION

The median age in Uganda is 16.7 years old, making it one of the youngest populations in the world. Youth can be a positive force for development when provided with the knowledge and opportunities they need to thrive. However, it also places stress on the education, health, and protection systems designed to support healthy children and youth.

Uganda is 32 times smaller in terms of land mass than Australia but with more than twice the population.

Sitting close to the equator, the climate in Uganda is largely tropical - warm and humid - with two rainy seasons each year and top temperatures sitting between 27 and 30 degrees celsius.

The Bugiri District

One Heart works in the Bugiri district in the East of Uganda. It is approximately 150km from the capital of Uganda, Kampala. It has an estimated population of 500,000.
