Situated in picturesque grounds surrounded by lush greenery and farmland, the One Heart Guesthouse provides travellers from near and far with a comfortable place to call home. It is located in a stunning setting and is perfect for corporate events and weddings. It also functions as a training facility for One Heart’s vocational training centre, empowering young people with employability skills and local community members with employment opportunities.
Designed as a social enterprise, the 5-bedroom guesthouse can sleep up to 21 people with flexible configurations, and is available for rent as accommodation only, or it can be used for larger corporate events, small conferences and weddings.
The guesthouse is an example of sustainable in-country model in action. Not only does it provide income to support One Hearts work, but it also serves as an on-the-job training facility for vocational students undertaking courses in catering, accommodation or event management. Prior to covid, we had one cohort of students successfully graduate, and we are looking forward to getting this program up and running again.
Janet, a mother of one and grandmother of two, works at the One Heart Guesthouse as our cook and housekeeper. Janet is so thankful for the work the Guesthouse provides as she cares for her two grandchildren, working to fund their education and living expenses. Over the next two years, we want to see the Guesthouse fully recovered from the impact of Covid as a thriving accommodation and events centre, with stories of hope and transformation as people step away, are refreshed, revived and celebrate life together.
The 8-acre property at Soy is home not only to our Guesthouse but also to our second One Heart farm in Kenya. As a working property, there is a certain buzz about the place that inspires creativity and joy. With a long-term avocado plantation, the other crops rotate and include maize, spinach, kale, nightshades, sunflowers and beans.
